Official opening of the »Novogradnja UL FKKT in UL FRI« construction site took place on Wednesday, 27 June, 2012 at 11.30 near the Biološko središče, Večna pot 111.
Honourable speakers were:
- prof. dr. Žiga Turk, Minister of education, science, culture and sport
- g. Zoran Janković, Mayor of the Municipality of Ljubljana
The construction of the two faculties' buildings is the biggest project in Slovenia, co-funded by the EU – ERDF. The University of Ljubljana obtained 88 million EUR funds for the construction of new premises. The biggest project of the University of Ljubljana is also a significant contribution to the Slovenian economy recovery. It is also a unique Slovenian project, the first infrastructural project in the area of research and education with such a high amount of European co-funding. The project is an investment in public higher education and research infrastructure of national importance, linked with the needs of economy and other developmental areas.
