NAME OF THE FONDS: The Faculty of Medicine

ABOUT THE CREATOR
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana was established in 1919 and comprised only the first two preparatory years. The third year started with the academic year 1940/41. By a decree of the National Government of Slovenia, a complete Faculty of Medicine was established in 1945, which was attached to the healthcare sector but still connected with the University of Ljubljana. From March 1950 to November 1954, it was excluded from the university and raised to the level of an independent Medical College consisting of two faculties: the medical and a newly founded dental faculty. After the MC was abolished (1954), the Faculty of General Medicine and Dental Medicine was reintegrated into the Ljubljana university.
