On 3 December 1919, the first lecture in Slovene was given at the University of Ljubljana. We celebrate this day as the birthday of the oldest and largest university in Slovenia, which today enjoys an international reputation.

We take great pride in the University’s successes, so every first week of December we pay respect to its best research achievements, presenting honorary titles, plaques, awards, and recognitions to those who contribute to make the University of Ljubljana even better.

Due to the epidemiological situation, this year’s University of Ljubljana Week will not be held live. Instead, we are proud to present our best research achievements, recipients of honorary titles, plaques, awards, and recognitions on this special website.

We look forward to your visit!

Address by Prof. Dr. Igor Papič, Rector of the University of Ljubljana
