Prof. Bernd-Robert Höhn

Prof. Bernd-Robert Höhn’s work as head of drive system development in one of the leading automotive companies and as professor at the Technical University of Munich has established him as a foremost scientist and expert in the field of gear transmissions and drive systems. During his tenure at the Technical University of Munich, he established one of the largest – and world-renowned – research and development centres in the field. He developed and used scientific findings to support the advancement of engineering and technical development, especially in the automotive industry, where his achievements contributed to the rapid progress in the field of drive systems. He has published 500 professional and scientific papers and supervised as many as 116 doctoral candidates. He served as Dean of the Technical University of Munich, was a member of the Steering Committee of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), and one of the authors of Germany’s engineering research policy, which connects the academic and business spheres. He has received numerous awards for his work; among other things, he is an honorary member of VDI and Professor Emeritus at the Technical University of Munich. Since starting work at the Technical University of Munich, Prof. Höhn has established a lasting partnership with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, offering generous support to the University and thus making a significant contribution to the advancement and international recognition of the Faculty and the University. The long-lasting pedagogical and research links, based on the substantive partnership established and nurtured by Prof. Höhn, continue to grow a decade after his retirement.
