Ten universities of the EUTOPIA Alliance, of which the University of Ljubljana is a member, are coming together on Europe Day to renew their commitment to shaping the future of higher education and research in Europe.

Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), Ca'Foscari University of Venice (Italy), CY Cergy University Paris (France), Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), NOVA University Lisbon (Portugal), Pompeu Fabra University Barcelona (Spain) and University of Warwick (UK) are proud to celebrate Europe Day. This day marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which proposed a new order of political partnership in Europe and eventually led to today's European Union.

EUTOPIA members firmly believe that universities are places where ideas are born and built upon, paving the way for future generations of thinkers and innovators who will make an important contribution to shaping Europe's future. Through our universities, we connect communities at local, European and global level, and pass on to future generations the knowledge needed to build a more open, inclusive and sustainable society. Together, we are committed to upholding the values of democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law. We are committed to green and digital transitions: through teaching, research and close collaboration with society, we are creating technologies and practices that will contribute to a sustainable future for the planet. Science diplomacy is one of our keys to fostering international understanding across borders, cultures and languages. In this light, we provide a platform for dialogue and exchange.

On this special day, 9 May 2023, when war is being waged on our borders, the ten universities of EUTOPIA renew their allegiance to European unity, as European unity is a key factor for an open, inclusive and sustainable society.
