The University of Ljubljana participates in the EUTOPIA-SIF project with the original partners of the EUTOPIA Alliance, where postdoctoral fellowships for young researchers are offered each year.

The selected researchers will be employed for the duration of the two-year project at one of the original EUTOPIA universities (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, CY Cergy Paris Université, University of Gothenburg, University of Ljubljana, Pompeu Fabra University or University of Warwick) and will have an excellent opportunity for research mobility and international cooperation.

In the 1st EUTOPIA SIF Call for Doctoral Fellowships 2020/2021, two researchers from the University of Ljubljana were selected:

  • Dr Ross Jansen-van Vuuren with the project RecyclCAT - Development of Recyclable Dendrimer-based Catalysts for H/D exchange, under the supervision of Prof. Dr Janez Košmrl from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology,
  • Dr. Maryna Shevtsova with the project RIPAMGEN - The Radical Right and Anti-Gender Movements in Central Eastern Europe: the implications of mobilisation for European integration and Gender Equality in Georgia and Ukraine, under the mentorship of Prof. Roman Kuhar, Faculty of Arts.

She was selected as a researcher in the 2nd EUTOPIA SIF Call for Doctoral Fellowships 2021/2022 at the University of Ljubljana:

  • Dr. Maria Victoria Inostroza with the project BRoLs - Breaches of the Rule of Law, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ales Novak from the Faculty of Law.

In the 3rd EUTOPIA SIF call for PhD scholarships 2022/2023, the following researchers were selected at the University of Ljubljana:

  • Dr. Ornella Salimbene with the project PA-MAP - Participatory Approach for the Monitoring of Air Pollution in urban environment, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gregor Chok, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy.
  • Dr. Giustina Selvelli with the project MINOR ECHOES - MINORity EcoCultural Heritage RelatiOnalitiES: Human-induced environmental destruction, activism and memory in two Eastern European minority borderlands, under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galo Kirno, Faculty of Arts
  • Dr. Marko Verce with the project WaKeBInt - Interactions of bifidobacteria and other microorganisms in water kefir: a path to custommade water kefir grains?, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Ines Mandić-Mulec from the Faculty of Biotechnics.
