About the programme

Graduates of the Slovene Studies academic program acquire knowledge and develop skills that, according to established measures, qualify as foundational knowledge and skills in Slovene linguistics and literary studies.

Foundational knowledge of discreet areas of linguistics and literary studies enables them to understand, interpret, and evaluate artistic and non-artistic texts in light of relevant scholarly discoveries and societal phenomena associated with language and literature. Graduates are able to handle texts scientifically based on their knowledge and logically present their findings and views in public.

Graduates are capable of carrying out specific projects in order to gain insights into Slovene literature, cultural history, culture in general, language, and texts and their meanings in different media. They can work in the publishing industry, print and electronic media, cultural institutions, governmental affairs, advertising, and tourism. The major(s) also prepare graduates to work in offices and institutions that deal with representing and promoting Slovene language and literature or cultural activities.

The candidates have to provide evidence of Slovenian language skills proficiency at level B2 of Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).
