About the programme

Graduates of the programme acquire knowledge and intercultural linguistic competences expected of a graduate in Italian according to international standards. They are able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills critically and flexibly in relation to the other subject or discipline or their study.
Among the skills and competences acquired, the following are especially worth highlighting: the knowledge of the Italian linguistic system at all levels, the ability to use the Italian language in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, basic contrastive knowledge of Italian and Slovene grammar, knowledge of the linguistic contact between Italian and Slovene, and knowledge of the sociolinguistic situation of the Slovene community in Italy and of the Italian ethnic community in Slovenia. Furthermore, graduates also acquire knowledge of the conditions and various circumstances of intercultural communication, basic knowledge of Italian culture and literature, as well as the ability to understand Italian speakers, and to cooperate linguistically and overcome communication barriers.
