About the programme

In addition to general humanistic and social science competences, students enrolled in the Bachelor degree programme acquire also specific competences based on understanding of different ways of life and cultural diversity. A distinctive feature of the study of ethnology and cultural anthropology is the acquisition of competence to conduct fieldwork and being able to work with people in different cultural contexts in Slovenia and abroad.

The programme gives to the students the essential skills and knowledge to continue the study at the master’s degree level of the Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology programme as well as the applied skills for those entering the labour market immediately after graduation. Graduate students find employment in cultural, administrative, governmental and non-governmental, economic and educational institutions, mainly in the fields that are connected to the processes and elements of everyday life such as issues rural and urban life, communication, media and language, gender, migration, minorities, human rights, health culture, religion, popular culture, publishing, cultural marketing, the protection of and engagement with cultural heritage and folk culture in heritage conservation and museums, documentation centres, libraries, etc.)
