The event opened with an exhibition at the University of Ljubljana Gallery. Students of the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television UL (UL AGRFT) presented the exhibition The Head as Theatre, while students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design UL (UL ALUO) presented works from Face to Face and Installation with a Red Lid (Postavitev z rdečim pokrovom). The exhibition brought together performing, visual and spatial artistic practices, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of contemporary artistic production at the university.

The programme at Congress Square included video projections of works by UL ALUO students in the fields of photography, illustration, animation, video, and new media. Created under the mentorship of the academy’s teaching staff, the works offered an insight into diverse approaches to contemporary visual art and media production.

An important part of the programme was a fashion show by students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering UL (UL NTF), who presented the collection Jeans//Connections (Jeans//Povezovanja). The show was accompanied by a live musical performance by a jazz trio from the Academy of Music UL (UL AG), creating an interplay of design, performance and musical improvisation.

The exhibition On the Tree, the Human Being and Clothing (O drevesu, človeku in obleki) was also presented in Zvezda Park. Through textile and visual art, UL NTF students explored the relationship between human beings, nature and clothing. On the second day of the event, the programme continued with a concert by the FiveBrass Quintet UL AG, presenting chamber music created by young musicians.

On both days, the Congress Square programme also featured a stand by the Summer School of Cultural Management at the School of Economics and Business UL (UL EF), which highlighted the importance of connecting art, organization and cultural management.

The Day of the Arts at the University of Ljubljana 2024 once again emphasized the importance of art as an integral part of the university environment and wider society. The event provided an opportunity to showcase the creativity of students, mentors and teaching staff from different artistic fields, while encouraging collaboration among the University of Ljubljana’s faculties. At the same time, it contributed to making art more accessible in public space and strengthened the dialogue between the university, artistic production and its audiences.
