We invite you to join an online workshop on the use of AI tools in education, where you will be able to explore various topics and carry out activities – independently, at your own pace and in your own time – during the workshop’s running period, explore various resources and complete activities designed to address current opportunities and challenges in the use of AI in the teaching process.
Why join?
Like many others before and after us, we at the Digital UL Centre have recognised the transformative potential of applying artificial intelligence across various economic and social sectors, including education. We believe that artificial intelligence is already making a significant contribution to achieving global education goals, such as inclusive learning, the democratisation of knowledge, the automation of various routine processes, and the optimisation of teaching methods to enhance student learning. By engaging in ongoing critical reflection on the impact of AI on education, we can avoid many of the challenges that accompany this rapidly developing field and harness the potential that artificial intelligence brings to our everyday lives. And this is precisely the aim of our online workshop.
Aims of the workshop
This online workshop was created with a few key objectives in mind:
- We wanted to explain the basic concepts of artificial intelligence and generative AI in one place.
- We wanted to encourage reflection on ethical challenges and develop an awareness of the biases that may be present in data and artificial intelligence models.
- We have also compiled a selection of existing examples of good practice in the use of generative AI tools at the University of Ljubljana and beyond, which can serve as a treasure trove of ideas.
- However, to ensure we do not limit ourselves to theoretical knowledge alone, we have designed activities that will familiarise you with how to formulate effective prompts for generative AI tools. You will be able to use these tools independently to create content, support teaching and assessment, whilst critically evaluating the suitability of AI for use in various pedagogical scenarios that are transferable to different subject areas.
