The conference will open a debate on one of the key themes of contemporary society, ageing and longevity, and will highlight the challenges and opportunities related to ageing, changes in the labour market, the transfer of knowledge between generations, the development of community services, and technological and social innovations in support of a long-lived society. Broader concepts such as healthy and active ageing, ageing in Society 5.0, gerotranscendence and examples of good practice from different contexts will also be addressed. The conference will bring together eminent national and international experts working on ageing and ageing from different scientific perspectives.

With this conference, the University of Ljubljana is fulfilling its third mission – science for people and society. It is designed as a space for dialogue, exchange of experience, and linking science with practice.

The Faces of the Ages exhibition, organised by students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering as part of the HUD project, will be held in Ljubljana's New Square from 1 to 20 October. The aim of the exhibition is to draw attention to the prejudices associated with different ages and to promote respectful intergenerational dialogue and solidarity.

The conference will be held in English on the first day and in Slovenian on the second day. No translation will be provided.

Participation in the conference is free of charge, but further registrations are no longer possible due to full occupancy.
