Training school is aimed at interdisciplinary Early Career Researchers (PhD students from year 2+ & postdoctoral researchers) and Environmental Practitioners (professionals with a clear activity focus related to nature and the environment) to join us for a five-day intense event focusing on exchange, co-production of knowledge, creative skills training, and network-building, such that we build capacity to address pressing global and local challenges. Prospective participants should submit their CV, and an extended abstract of their research with a brief cover letter and endorsement from their Supervisors by April 10, 2026.  Successful candidates will be notified by the end of April 2026.  If selected, participants will be asked to participate in online sessions prior to the event and prepare a 10-minute presentation for the Advanced Training Summer School. 

Places are limited, with a maximum of 24 participants, and the selection criteria will be based on (but not limited to) the following considerations in the selection of top candidates: 

  • Suitability of the submitted extended abstract to the call’s theme,
  • Interdisciplinary background of the participant
  • Strong cover letter to explain how participation within the summer school would support/relate to the applicants’ study and research or practice,
  • Career stage of participants (preference will be given to those at mid to advanced stages of their research/practice),
  • Gender diversity and participants from underrepresented geographies/areas of conflict will be prioritized. 

Travel costs will be covered by thr candidates, in addition to a € 400 fee to contribute towards accommodation and subsistence during the 5-day event. Remaining costs regarding the Summer School will be covered for all participants by the organizers (accommodation will be in double rooms within the Convent and full-board meals included, as well as provisions for transportation towards study visits).
