The 33rd Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Association for International Higher Education (EAIE) took place this year from 26-29 September 2023 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The professional meeting brought together more than 239 exhibitors and over 6,600 higher education staff from all over the world, with 7 of the 50 European university associations present, including EUTOPIA.

EUTOPIA participated in a session on Innovative Approaches to Engaging Students in Higher Education, organised jointly with the European University Alliance for Global Health - EUGLOH, with the participation of Emilie Helmeid,University of Paris-Saclay, Karin Jonson, International Project Manager at the University of Gothenburg,Paul-Adrien Viala, President of the EUTOPIA Student Council, Charlotte Malle, Associate at EUGLOH and Isabelle Nilsson, Lund University. 

The Alliance also participated in a session chaired by Professor Helena Ramalinho Lourenço, Vice-Rector of Pompeu Fabra-Barcelona University. She looked in detail at the complexities of European alliances working with global partners, drawing on the experiences of three alliances: EUTOPIA, the European Maritime University (SEA-EU) (represented by Alexandra Teodósio, University of the Algarve) and ARQUS (represented by Dorothy Kelly, University of Granada). The main question of the session was How can the members of the European alliances work together effectively and secure the necessary resources to sustain key partnerships?

In Rotterdam, the European University Alliances delivered the following message to the global higher education community: unity, visibility and cooperation are the pillars on whichwe must build the future of higher education in Europe.
