DGNB Gold pre-certificate for the Faculty of Medicine
Date of publication:
We are proud to report that we have been awarded the DGNB Gold pre-certificate for sustainable building, which will enable the UL Faculty of Medicine to create modern research and teaching premises. The Faculty of Medicine thus becomes the first university building and first public building in Slovenia (and in this part of Europe) to hold this certificate, and one of only five buildings in Slovenia so far to have obtained a certificate that is making a significant contribution to the development of sustainable building in this country.
We were awarded international DGNB sustainable building certification following a successful evaluation by the DGNB certification team, which confirmed the project’s compliance with all sustainable building criteria. The pre-certificate allows verification in the early planning phases and monitoring during the construction phase whether the project meets the strict sustainability standards required by DGNB certification.
Implementation of Phase 2 of the UL Faculty of Medicine’s Vrazov Trg Campus began in February 2024, following the signing of a contract with the construction and finishing works contractor (Makro 5 d.o.o.), and is proceeding in accordance with the approved timetable and financial plan. Excavations and protection of the construction pit are currently in the final phase. Formwork, concrete reinforcement and concrete laying are also under way, along with preparations for the installation of wiring and mechanical systems. Public contracts for the supply and installation of laboratory equipment, medical technology, furniture and multimedia equipment are being prepared at the same time.
The project is co-financed by grants from the Republic of Slovenia (Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation) and the European Union (NextGenerationEU). The investment is part of the measures of the plan financed from the RRP mechanism.
