The DGNB certification scheme provides a holistic and lifelong approach to sustainable building that takes into account environmental, economic and social aspects, supplemented by selected technical and procedural requirements, including guidelines for choosing a site. As well as energy efficiency, the scheme assesses the complete life cycle of a building, in this way enabling a more balanced assessment of its impacts on the environment and society. In order to qualify funds from the recovery and resilience plan (RRP), it is enough for a project to obtain the DGNB Silver pre-certificate.

Implementation of Phase 2 of the new UL Veterinary Faculty building on Cesta v Mestni Log in Ljubljana commenced in July 2024, following the signing of a contract with the construction and finishing works contractor (Strabag d.o.o.), and is proceeding in accordance with the approved timetable and financial plan. Formwork, concrete reinforcement and concrete laying are under way, along with preparations for the installation of wiring and cabling in the walls of the Faculty and Clinic buildings. Calls for tender for the supply of various equipment (general, laboratory, technological, multimedia) and calls related to the percentage for art policy are also being prepared.

The project is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia (Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation) and the European Union (NextGenerationEU). The investment is part of the measures of the plan financed from the RRP mechanism.
