The University of Ljubljana has expressed solidarity with its partner, the University of Belgrade, in a letter of support for the peaceful student protests in Serbia and strongly condemned all forms of violence.
The University of Ljubljana has been following with concern the growing violence meted out against students during their entirely legitimate and peaceful protests in Serbia. We fully support peaceful student protests and join with the appeals of our partner universities in Serbia for all appropriate measures to be taken to protect and safeguard all the protesters, both the students and staff at the universities as well as other citizens. The University of Ljubljana is committed to the values of humanism and respect of human rights for all, which include the right to peaceful protest. We therefore call on all those involved to work towards a calming of the situation and to ensure the safety of all students and other protesters.
