Prof. Dr Gregor Majdič and Prof. Dr Irena Mlinarič Raščan advance to the second round of the University of Ljubljana rector elections

On 2 April 2025, the University of Ljubljana (UL) held its rector elections. Prof. Dr Gregor Majdič received the highest share of valid weighted votes, with 46.91%, followed by Prof. Dr Irena Mlinarič Raščan with 32.54%.
As no candidate secured more than 50% of the valid weighted votes, a second round of elections will take place on 16 April 2025.
Voting was conducted simultaneously across all 26 UL member institutions and the Rector's Office using the SimplyVoting system. A total of 43,083 voters were eligible to participate: 4,226 from voter group 1 (teachers, researchers, and higher education/research staff), 2,421 from voter group 2 (professional, administrative, and technical staff), and 36,436 from voter group 3 (students).
Taking the vote weights into account, the first-round results were as follows:
- Prof. Dr Metka Tekavčič – 20.55% of the valid weighted votes
- Prof. Dr Irena Mlinarič Raščan – 32.54% of the valid weighted votes
- Prof. Dr Gregor Majdič – 46.91% of the valid weighted votes
