In his opening address, Vice-Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr Jernej Buzeti emphasised the power of words and actions, noting that sustainable relationships cannot be built without trust. He stated that more space should be given to individuals who act with moral courage and in the interest of the community. The guest of honour, Dr Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia, highlighted the importance of mission in the public sector, and addressed challenges such as pay disparities, staff shortages, and the need for greater flexibility for young people. “The public sector needs to know whom it serves – the people,” she said.

In the first panel discussion, People in public administration, the panellists underscored the importance of administrative culture, the emotional maturity of leaders, interpersonal support and a healthy team environment. In the second panel discussion, Attitudes towards colleagues and how to lead them, successful leaders emphasised that trust in colleagues, ethics and a willingness to learn and adapt are key to effective leadership.

The Academy once again demonstrated that the success of the public sector depends on quality relationships, mutual understanding and shared values. Respect, trust and vision are the foundations on which we can build a more effective public environment – including in social care.

Each year, the Public Sector Academy is aimed at public sector employees and all those seeking to enhance their personal and professional skills with the help of knowledgeable guests who are experts from various fields. Each year, the event fosters connections and collaboration among participants, while also encouraging joint efforts in the search for common solutions.
