Upon his election, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Gregor Dolinar stated: "The role of university associations in the European Higher Education Area is still not clearly defined by the European Commission, so it is important that the University of Ljubljana actively participates in shaping this role. By joining the Steering Commitee of the EUTOPIA Global Institute, we have the opportunity to contribute to a clearer definition of the Alliance's mission and goals, to help shape its future, and to define the appropriate role of the University of Ljubljana in the Alliance."

The steering committee of the EUTOPIA Global Institute is comprised of the vice-rectors of the member universities of the EUTOPIA Alliance, who are responsible for research. The establishment of the EUTOPIA Global Institute is one of the main objectives of the EUTOPIA MORE project, through which the EUTOPIA Alliance is working to enable greater mobility, strengthen links between teaching, research, and innovation, and, above all, enable students to play an active role in identifying and solving global challenges through innovative and collaborative learning practices.

The EUTOPIA Global Institute has been established with the aim of strengthening the research potential of the EUTOPIA Alliance and increasing the connectivity of the European educational space by involving stakeholders from the local to the global level. In this regard, the institute will do its best to support research initiatives proposed by researchers and to support those at the beginning of their research and academic careers. The institute aims to gain international support and establish a scholarship programme.
