Scientific publication is an important part of the research and teaching process and of the evaluation of the quality of higher education personnel and the academic environment. Ethical conduct in publishing is among the fundamental precepts of research integrity, the respect of which also affects the quality of research and people's trust in science. Emerging (good and bad) practices and new challenges in the field of scientific publishing create a need for specific guidelines in this area, which take into account internationally accepted standards of ethical publishing as well as empirical reality, and are to be updated as necessary when new challenges and good practices are discovered.

The UL Guidelines on Ethical Conduct in Scientific Publishing represent systematically formulated positions and recommendations intended to assist employees, collaborators and students of the University of Ljubljana in making decisions about publishing their research results and to support the implementation of good, ethical practices in scientific publishing. They are published on the UL website Ethics and Integrity in Research, where you can also find other useful links and documents relevant for research ethics and integrity
