The meeting took place on 5 November 2025, as part of the celebrations marking the 15th anniversary of the Slovenian language programme being available at this university. Over the past 15 years, more than 200 Chinese students have studied Slovenian at BFSU. During the visit, Rector Majdič met with BFSU President Prof. Jia Wenjian and the Dean of the School of European Languages and Cultures, where the Slovenian language programme is offered. The two university leaders agreed to renew the existing cooperation agreement and to strengthen collaboration between the institutions beyond the field of Slovenian language and culture.
Rector Majdič also met with the Director of the National Museum of China, the largest museum in China and one of the largest museums in the world. The meeting focused on potential cooperation between the University of Ljubljana and the National Museum of China in the fields of heritage science, archaeology and other areas, such as the development and use of artificial intelligence tools in these and related areas.
Both institutions agreed to begin preparing a cooperation agreement to formalise this collaboration, including joint research projects and student and staff exchanges. This will represent the first such partnership between the National Museum of China and a university outside China, underscoring the international recognition and excellence of the University of Ljubljana.
