In his opening address, the Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Prof. Dr Gregor Majdič, emphasised the university’s fundamental commitment to fostering an academic environment that actively promotes and supports ethical and integrity-based conduct in all areas.

Doctoral students from all three participating universities presented their contributions and research findings, and engaged in in-depth discussions on the importance of ethics and integrity. Their presentations focused on various aspects of research ethics, key issues of responsible research conduct, and the importance of integrity for the credibility of science. The invited speakers – Prof. Dr Nina Peršak from the University of Ljubljana, Nataša Jakominić Marot from the University of Rijeka and Dr Barbara Reiter from the University of Graz – added a special dynamic to the discussions. The active participation of students in the discussions following the sessions confirmed their high level of awareness of the importance of research ethics, both in science and the broader social context. The conference offered students at the beginning of their research careers a unique opportunity for professional development, valuable feedback, making new acquaintances and networking, and a contribution to the dissemination of scientific understanding in their respective fields. At the conclusion of the conference, doctoral students also selected the five best presentations or speakers, who were awarded prizes.

The conference once again confirmed that cooperation among universities contributes significantly to the development of a high-quality research culture based on ethical principles and integrity. The participants gained new knowledge, experience and connections that will enrich their future research paths and strengthen international cooperation among partner institutions.
