The research “Waste Heat – Problem or Solution?” was carried out by researchers from the Laboratory for Refrigeration and District Energy Systems (LAHDE) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, in collaboration with international experts. They demonstrated that waste heat could become one of the key sources of clean energy in the future. The solution lies in advanced high-temperature heat pumps, which can significantly reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and thermal environmental load—particularly in industry and the energy sector. Congratulations to the winners!

The selection for the most interesting research achievement of the year is published annually. The winner is chosen through voting on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn by readers and followers. The University of Ljubljana, as the largest research institution in Slovenia, uses this initiative to showcase outstanding research results of its researchers.
