“The Student Council of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering encounters various forms of hardship faced and overcome by students on a daily basis. Unfortunately, these difficulties too often stem from students’ financial circumstances. We therefore felt it was right to bring a touch of charity into the festive Advent period at our faculty: to support our peers and friends, do something positive, come together and, in good company during our breaks, raise as much as possible for those who, for a variety of reasons, have found themselves in financial difficulty, and to try to help them at least a little in their present situation. We proudly support Srčna UL, since it is there for our fellow students,” commented Jakob Velepec, President of the Student Council of UL FE.

“We at Štromar.si are aware that access to higher education is not something that can be taken for granted by everyone. We believe that the road to education should be paved with knowledge and the will to learn, and that students should be spared concerns about their financial situation. That is why we proudly support the Srčna UL campaign – because as socially responsible students we are building a community in which everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed,” added Tim Kalan, President of Štromar.si, the student organisation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

“At EESTEC LC Ljubljana we are pleased that once again this year, in cooperation with ŠSFE and Štromar.si, we have had a successful Charity Week and raised funds to support students facing financial hardship through the Srčna UL programme. Throughout the event we observed a warm, friendly and positive atmosphere among the students, which was very encouraging. We are glad that we had the opportunity to help students in need while also bringing a smile to the faces of many students, professors and assistants. We are very satisfied with this year’s experience, since it has once again shown that by joining forces we can achieve a great deal and together create an environment in which no one is overlooked. We are pleased with this renewed successful cooperation and already look forward to repeating it next year,” concluded Dominik Bernik, a representative of the student association EESTEC LC Ljubljana, with a positive vision for the future.

Representatives of the organisations presented a symbolic cheque to the Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Professor Gregor Majdič, who commented: “I sincerely thank the students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana for once again supporting the Srčna UL charity campaign. The €1,250 raised is more than just financial assistance: it is a powerful message of solidarity, connectedness and responsibility towards the community. We are proud that at the University of Ljubljana a generation of young people is growing up who understand that the road to an inclusive society is paved with compassion and a willingness to help. Your actions show that students are not only building their own professional futures, but also a more just and compassionate world.”

The Srčna UL charity campaign, organised by the University of Ljubljana in cooperation with the Association of Friends of Youth of Slovenia, has been running since 2021. In this time we have helped 176 students and 23 members of staff and have raised more than €125,000 in total.
