About the programme

The first-cycle study programme Comparative Literature and Literary Theory affords the students the knowledge of literary science and introduces them to the basics of comparative literature, literary history, and literary theory. Special emphasis is put on the relationship between literature and other forms of art, as well as on the issue of Slovenian literature in the framework of European and world literature. One of the main focal points is thus the study of Slovenian literature in the international context.

Students gain subject-specific competencies for working with literary texts, which requires an extensive literary and broad cultural knowledge. Graduates are eligible for employment in various areas of literary criticism, literary and cultural journalism (publishing houses, newspapers, radio, TV), editorial work and dramaturgical work (theatre, radio). Additionally, graduates can seek employment in the organisation of (inter)national cultural events, public PR activities, and copywriting.

The candidates have to provide evidence of Slovenian language skills proficiency at level B2 of Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).
