About the programme

The primary objective of the second-cycle (Master’s) degree programme in French Studies is to deepen advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of the French language and literature, while fostering intellectual development and independent learning.

Graduates of both non-teaching programmes further develop their proficiency in the French language and acquire in-depth knowledge in linguistics, literary theory, and literary history.

Graduates of the single-subject programme French Studies with Romance Studies furthermore build upon their acquired knowledge and competences in Romance languages.

Graduates of the double-subject teaching programme French deepen their knowledge of the French language, acquire selected competences in linguistics, literary theory, and literary history, and, through the general courses of the pedagogical module and French language didactics, gain knowledge and skills in teaching French as a foreign language.

The knowledge and skills acquired within the French Studies degree programme enable graduates to successfully enter professional life as well as to pursue further studies at the doctoral level.
