About the programme

Students enrolled in the second-cycle master’s degree programme in Hispanic Studies acquire comprehensive knowledge of the Spanish language and literature which, according to international standards, corresponds to the knowledge and competences required of highly qualified professionals in this field. They are able to apply this knowledge and these competences flexibly and critically in a variety of contexts of intercultural mediation related to their field of study.

Graduates acquire the following knowledge and competences: an in-depth understanding of the Spanish linguistic system, with the possibility of specialised expertise in individual linguistic levels and theoretical foundations; knowledge of the basic principles of literary criticism necessary for the independent analysis of literary texts; familiarity with different approaches and methods of linguistic and literary analysis of various types of texts; the ability to critically evaluate and apply the acquired knowledge and competences; the ability to select and apply appropriate methods for the analysis of texts in Spanish; the ability to establish interdisciplinary connections between selected areas of study and research, to meaningfully synthesise collected data and findings, and to present research results with due consideration of their social relevance.

Students apply their knowledge and competences critically and in connection with other fields of study. In their intercultural mediation and other professional activities, they assume ethical responsibility. Through their work, they strive to contribute to the highest possible level of quality in intercultural cooperation and mutual understanding. Through their research activities, they further enrich knowledge in all areas of their professional engagement.
