History – Teacher Education Programme

The fundamental objective of the second-level educational master's programme in History is to enable students to perform specific forms of research, publishing, archival, and museum work within various professional and related activities in the humanities and social sciences, with particular emphasis on preparing them for careers as history teachers in elementary and secondary schools and other educational institutions. 

Through the study program, students deepen their professional historical knowledge and knowledge of history didactics. They apply theoretical approaches to historical science and its methodological techniques, and acquire specialist knowledge of the political, social, economic, and cultural history of Slovenia, Southeast Europe, Europe, and the world. They become qualified to independently plan and conduct history lessons in elementary and secondary schools, and to prepare and design teaching materials for history classes. They learn to engage in self-reflection, self-evaluation, and self-assessment for lifelong learning, and become qualified to conduct independent pedagogical research.
