About the programme
Graduates of the programme acquire knowledge and intercultural linguistic competences which, according to international standards, are fundamental for this type of double-subject degree programme. They are able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills independently, critically, and flexibly in relation to the other subject or field of their studies.
Among the skills and competences acquired, the following are particularly noteworthy: comprehensive knowledge of the Italian linguistic system, the ability to use Italian in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, basic contrastive knowledge of Italian and Slovene grammar, and an understanding of the linguistic contact between Italian and Slovene. Graduates also acquire knowledge of the sociolinguistic position of the Slovene community in Italy and the Italian ethnic community in Slovenia, as well as insight into the conditions and contexts of intercultural communication, and basic knowledge of Italian culture and literature. The programme promotes openness to intercultural dialogue, the ability to understand Italian speakers, to engage in linguistic cooperation and overcome communication barriers. The acquired competences enable active participation in national, international and multicultural professional and social contexts.
