About the programme
The graduates of the professional bachelor study programme Laboratory dental prosthetics are qualified to design and produce removable, fixed and combined prosthodontics and other orthodontic appliances.
The programme comprises the discipline-specific contents and the subjects which help develop appropriate attitudes and approaches towards the patients in the process of their dental restoration. The students acquire knowledge of the basic medical sciences (anatomy, physiology and pathology), biophysics, and biochemistry, the basics of clinical medicine and first aid, and functional anatomy.
The programme offers a number of general elective subjects (inter-professional collaboration, social sciences in health care, safety at work). Students may also increase their knowledge and skills in the specialty areas involving dental lab technology through other professional elective subjects. The theoretical instruction and practical training take place at the Faculty of Health Sciences and the relevant clinics and institutes.
The students gain experience in clinical placements, which involve supervised practice in approved clinical situations.
