About the programme
Graduates of the professional bachelor study programme Orthotics and prosthetics integrate knowledge and skills from technical and health sciences and are employed in workshops for fabrication and application of orthopaedic and rehabilitation devices, rehabilitation centres, centres for vocational guidance of the disabled, pharmacies and major hospitals.
They act as autonomous and equal members of a health care team. They help the physically impaired individuals to restore their functional abilities. The students acquire the fundamental knowledge of physiology, biophysics, and special biomechanics, neurology, functional anatomy and prosthetics.
They study principles of technical devices and computer-aided technologies (CAD/CAM), orthotics, spinal biomechanics, and rehabilitation engineering. The programme includes also medical psychology, social sciences, research methodology and the development of orthotics and prosthetics. A number of professional and general elective subjects are offered.
The programme and the laboratory practice are provided by and at the Faculty of Health Sciences, in clinics and some other relevant locations.
The candidates have to provide evidence of Slovenian language skills proficiency at level B2 of Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).
