About the programme

The study programme Nursing is based on EU sectoral directives, Bologna Declaration and other Slovenian regulations. It consists of theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for quality performance of nursing interventions.

During the first study year the students acquire basic knowledge from natural, social, psychological and health sciences which is gradually deepened and broadened in subsequent study years. T

he second and the third study years address the development of practical skills required for a nursing career. The theoretical subjects focus on special topics in nursing, such as health promotion and health education, emergency,  community, psychiatric, paediatric and gynaecologic nursing , and nursing  in internal and surgical wards, etc.

The programme comprises 50% of theoretical instruction, and 50% of practical training and independent learning. Practical training takes place at the faculty, i.e. in laboratories specially esigned for teaching/learning purposes, in health and social institutions, such as hospitals, health centres, nursing homes and community health centres, etc. 

The candidates have to provide evidence of Slovenian language skills proficiency at level B2 of Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).
