Veterinarians play a key role in animal health, food safety, public health, and animal welfare, which requires education that combines theory and strong practical training. To meet EU standards, veterinary curricula must be harmonised to support international professional practice. In Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, aligning veterinary education with EU requirements remains a priority, yet challenges persist, including limited clinical training, insufficient focus on One Health and public health, underdeveloped soft skills, and inconsistent access to the profession due to differing licensing systems. Modernising veterinary education, supported by governmental commitment, is essential to improve quality, mobility, and graduates’ competitiveness in the European labour market.
