Ana Šinkovec Burstin

Ana Šinkovec Burstin has been successful both at school and in her career. During her studies she acquired five specialist titles from conservatories in Ljubljana, Brussels, Bergamo and Paris. She has earned awards at numerous festivals and competitions. Even as a student in 2004 she received the student Prešeren Prize for her performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1st Concerto with the Slovenian Philharmonic. As a chamber musician and soloist she has taken part in numerous festivals throughout Europe and the USA. In 2015 she debuted as a soloist with an orchestra in the state of Wisconsin in the USA, and gave a solo recital at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, DC. She has recorded and given concerts with the Symphony Orchestra of RTV Slovenija, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra in Israel, the Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra and the Paradisal Players Symphony Orchestra in London, with which she first played in 2013 at a major charity event under the patronage of Prince Charles, and again last year, playing Sergei Rachmaninov’s third piano concerto. She has now played this concerto with an orchestra in England three times.

She has taught at the Trinity Laban conservatory in London, where she was appointed the Leverhulme Trust Artist. She has organised a series of chamber concerts, cooperated with the European Association of Piano Teachers and was on the jury at the opening international competition for pianists in Windsor. She is married to the British viola player and conductor Samuel Burstin, with whom she has two young daughters.
