Bine Štancar

Realising early that he was interested in maritime activities, Bine Štancar enrolled in the Secondary Marine School Portorož, and later on graduated in maritime studies from the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport, University of Ljubljana, in 2000.
He began forging his maritime career in the Eurosea shipping agency in Koper, where he worked in the following fields from 1999 to 2004: representation upon ships’ arrivals to and departures from the port, intermediation in concluding contracts on the utilisation of sea-going ships, assistance to clients and marketing.
He obtained a shipping agent licence from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, and in 2004 was appointed General Manager of CMA CGM SLOVENIJA, the Slovenian branch of one of the world’s largest container shipping companies, CMA CGM, established in Marseilles, France, and became one of the youngest general managers in a shipping agency. Although he is still the General Manager, he has not acted exclusively for CMA CGM SLOVENIJA since 2016. Instead, he now works for the entire CMA CGM ADRIATIC CLUSTER, which, in addition to the Slovenian branch, includes the Hungarian, Croatian and Serbian branches. Under his leadership, the company is continually developing in the market for the maritime transport of goods, and strives to develop Slovenia’s position as a gateway to the world for those countries of Central Europe that do not have direct contact with the sea and overseas markets.
Every year, he makes it possible for aspiring students of maritime studies and transport to engage in practical work experience within his organisation.
In 2018, he received the French national award called Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite (Knight of the National Order of Merit) in recognition of his dynamic and passionate attitude, and many years spent developing and cultivating active economic relations between France and Slovenia.
