Holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in vessel mechanical engineering from the UL Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport. He is Director of the Maritime Administration of the Republic of Slovenia and advocates the promotion of the seaman’s profession and the entry of vessels in the Slovenian ship register.

In 2013 he was appointed Director of the Maritime Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for five years with the possibility of re-appointment. Prior to his appointment as director he was employed at the Administration as a coordinator for technical and logistics issues. In 2017 he was re-appointed for a period of four years as the Slovenian representative in the Administrative Board of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).

After secondary maritime school he sailed on Splošna plovba vessels as an engine room assistant, and in his career at sea he attained the authority of a chief engineer. He continued his career as a ship’s engineer on yachts in Sardinia. His path then took him to Trieste, where at a Finnish marine engine company he became part of the team of engineers for maintaining engines on passenger vessels.

As a sailor, Jadran Klinec is aware of the significance of seafaring, so he advocates the promotion of the seaman’s profession and the development of Slovenian seafaring, since this will contribute to the development of Slovenia into a modern maritime-oriented country.
