Samo Skralovnik
Employed as a researcher at the Ljubljana Faculty of Theology, working in the field of Hebrew texts and verbs, he graduated with a joint undergraduate thesis from the Ljubljana Faculty of Theology and the Maribor Faculty of Arts. He completed his doctorate at the Faculty of Theology.
Samo Skralovnik is employed as an assistant professor in the Department of Bible Studies and Judaism at the Ljubljana Faculty of Theology. His doctorate was on a semantic study of two Hebrew verbs, and his research centres on a semantic analysis of the Hebrew roots חמד and אוה; the first denotes the dynamic of greed and the desire to enlarge one’s possessions, while the second denotes vital human needs and desires connected with existence and preservation. He is currently part of the ARRS (Slovenian Research Agency) Judeo-Christian sources and the dimensions of justice research group, where he is continuing his research into Hebrew (Old Testament and Apocryphal) texts. His findings are published regularly in eminent scientific periodicals at home and abroad. His research findings will be published in book form by Brill, a renowned Dutch publishing house with almost 300 years of scientific Biblical research behind it. In cooperation with the Maribor synagogue and other institutions, Samo is preparing a Biblical-archaeologicial exhibition.
He works as an assistant to the editor and editor-in-chief of the journal Edinost in dialog (Unity and Dialogue), a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana. He is also assistant to the editor and editor-in-chief, as well as a specialist member of the editorial board, at the journal Tretji dan(Third Day), a Christian review focusing on spirituality and culture.
