Tine Urnaut is a successful volleyball player, captain of the Slovenian national volleyball team, member of the Italian team Azimut Modena Volley and a graduate of the Faculty of Sport of the University of Ljubljana.

Volleyball was a big part of his growing up, since his parents and brother were also volleyball players. He demonstrated major talent even when he was very young.

In beach volley as a pair with Nejc Zemljak he became youth world champion in 2005, and won bronze at the European youth championship.

He was also captain of the Slovenian youth volleyball team, when it appeared in the world under 21 championship for the first time in the history of Slovenia. He became a member of the Slovenian national volleyball team at the age of 16. Tine began his career at the volleyball club Fužinar in Ravne na Koroškem, and in 2006 transferred to Autocommerce based in Bled (ACH Volley).

In 2008 he went abroad, where he played for various clubs in Italy, Greece, Turkey and Poland. He is currently a member of the Azimut Modena Volley team in Italy. In his career he has notched up a large number of enviable achievements. On the club level, in the 2006/2007 season with ACH Volley he won a gold medal in the European Top Teams cup competition, and in the 2010/2011 and 2016/17 seasons, in the same competition, now renamed the CEV Cup, he won silver (with the Polish club ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and the Italian club Trentino Diatec).

In the 2015/2016 season with Trentino he came second in the European Champions League and won bronze in the world club championship FIVB 2016. In 14 years in the Slovenian kit he has played in more than 160 official games and participated in six European championships and in the world championship. In 2009 he became captain of the Slovenian men’s national volleyball team. With the national team he earned three medals, a gold and bronze in the European volleyball league of 2015 and 2011 and a silver medal in the European championship CEV 2015.

He was selected for the ideal team of the European championship in 2015 and the European Champions League of 2016.
