Holds a doctorate from the Veterinary Faculty in Ljubljana, director of the municipal administration of Novo Mesto. She also works in the political sphere, where she brings together a knowledge of veterinary medicine and invaluable experience gained over her rich career. She lives and works in Slovenia.

Dr Vida Čadonič Špelič gained her master’s degree from the Veterinary Faculty in 1989, and her doctorate in 1993. She has high moral values and communication skills, which have enabled her to work in the professional and political fields in which she is still active today.

She is very familiar with the running of public administration, with more than 30 years of experience in this field. She was a deputy in the first convening of the National Assembly. She was then the first director of the Consumer Protection Office, state secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, and for ten years she was the director general of the Veterinary Administration and director of the Administration for Safe Food, Veterinary Medicine and Plant Protection. She was also active in Slovenia’s accession to the EU, and later in the Slovenian Presidency of the European Council.  She is currently director of the municipal administration of Novo Mesto. Her aim is to establish an efficient, people-friendly municipal administration and to promote the development of the City Municipality of Novo Mesto.
