Erasmus+ and UL

The University of Ljubljana (UL) has been actively participating in the Erasmus+ program since 1989, consistently upholding the principles of the ECHE Charter. Exchange-related activities are meticulously planned and implemented before, during, and after the exchange, ensuring high-quality cooperation. With over 2,000 inter-institutional agreements established with approximately 900 higher education institutions, the University boasts a vast and dynamic network of partnerships within the program.

To enhance efficiency and adapt to the specific needs of individual UL members, agreements are concluded at the faculty level. This approach allows for quicker adjustments and the establishment of direct communication with partner institutions. The University’s internationalization strategy is successfully integrated into faculty-level operations, supported by the University Office for International Relations. This service oversees the coordination of activities, monitors financial processes, maintains databases, and ensures the fulfilment of contractual obligations.

Each contractual period sees the University facilitating approximately

  • 1,500 outgoing student exchanges, while hosting a similar number of incoming international students,
  • 500 outgoing internships,
  • 300 teaching staff exchanges, and
  • 100 training staff exchanges.

The majority of Slovenian students opt for exchanges in Germany, Portugal, Spain, and the Czech Republic, whereas the University of Ljubljana frequently welcomes students from Germany, Spain, France, and the Czech Republic.

All members of the University participate in the Erasmus+ program, with the most active faculties being those that offer a broad selection of English-taught courses and programs. This not only attracts more international students but also significantly strengthens the University’s global cooperation efforts.
