Dr. Otto Likar

Dr. Otto Likar (1915–2005) was a highly successful civil engineer in post-war Germany. Among other things, he managed the construction of a large number of important buildings in Germany and also in Europe at large within his own engineering office, which had up to 26 permanent employees. In addition to his professional work, he also left a significant scientific contribution in the form of 17 scientific articles and one scientific monograph. Although he was one of the engineers who built post-war Europe with great engineering flair and without modern computational aids, he remained modest and faithful to his ascetic lifestyle. He valued knowledge above all and wanted to pass it on to the young people of his homeland. He investing part of his hard-earned fortune in a fund that would be able to help young people to a better education for decades to come.
