Summer school on Animal Welfare Ethics and Law and Communication skills
The summer school trains veterinarians to responsibly integrate animal welfare ethics, science, and legislation into their professional work. It focuses on ethical decision‑making, assessing animal quality of life, and promoting positive welfare states. Participants also gain in‑depth knowledge of legal obligations and develop communication skills that are essential when interacting with animal owners and the wider public in challenging situations. The programme includes practical case studies, discussions, and an interdisciplinary approach that helps veterinarians form comprehensive and well‑founded professional decisions.
This year, the summer school will be hosted by the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, which is taking on the organisational role in this programme.
The summer school is organised within the VetNEST network (Veterinary Network of European Student and Staff Transfer) – an association of veterinary faculties from nine countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
