Vice-Rector for quality and sustainability
Prof. Dr Janez Vogrinc is a full professor of educational methodology and statistics at the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana (UL PEF). He earned his degree in education in 2002 and his doctorate in educational sciences in 2007.
From 2010 to 2016, he served as Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies, Quality, and Development at UL PEF, and from 2016 to 2024, he served as its Dean. His research interests include qualitative research in education, developing teachers' research skills, systemic aspects of teacher education, and methods for assessing and ensuring the quality of educational work.
He has experience in project management; he leads the Modernization of Pedagogical Study Programs—a project implemented by a consortium of Slovenian faculties and academies offering pedagogical programs. Additionally, he led the evaluation study, "Evaluation of the Course and Effects of Distance Learning during the COVID-19 Epidemic," at the primary and secondary education levels. He is also a member of the program group "Strategy of Education and Training for Sustainable Development Using Innovative Learner-Centered Educational Approaches."
He was a member of the national group that prepared the White Paper on Education in the Republic of Slovenia (2009–2011) and he led the working group developing the National Program for Education in the Republic of Slovenia for 2023–2033. He chairs the State Commission for the Management of National Knowledge Assessment in Primary Schools and is a member of both the Slovenian Expert Council for General Education and the Council for Quality and Evaluation within the Ministry of Education.
He was appointed Vice-Rector for Quality and Sustainability at the University of Ljubljana for the term beginning 1 October 2025, and ending 30 September 2029.
