For EU and Swiss citizens there is no administrative procedure needed prior to arrival. However, within the first three months in Slovenia all foreign employees will need to obtain residence registration certificate.

How can I get it?

You can get the residence permit at the administrative unit where you live. In order to avoid potential crowds, you can book an appointment through the phone number of the administrative unit where you want to apply or through the application UE Naročanje if your nearest administrative unit is in this system.

Which documents do I need to submit?

  • Application form (EU/EEA citizens | Swiss citizens)
  • Registration confirmation of (permanent) address (e.g. rent contract, owner’s statement or proof of ownership)
  • Biometric colour photograph
  • Copy of passport (page with biographic data) or ID card
  • Proof of sufficient means of subsistence (Statement) or the employment contract signed by Slovenian employer
  • Proof of health insurance (European Health Insurance Card - blue card)
