Position Description

The Academy of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Ljubljana is inviting applications for a full-time, permanent position.

Start Date:
1 October 2025, or upon election to the relevant academic title at the University of Ljubljana, whichever occurs later.

Brief description of work and tasks:

• designing and updating curricula and adapting higher education professional education programs to requirements;
• organizing or co-organizing all activities for the implementation of the course in accordance with the curriculum and modern findings of the profession, as well as coordinating the work and supervising the work of other course providers (assistants, technical and other colleagues);
• lectures to students, conducting seminars and other pedagogical activities in the course;
• managing, evaluating and correcting exam tasks and tests;
• mentoring students in the preparation of seminar, diploma, master's and doctoral theses and other works;
• participation in other activities related to pedagogical work in the profession;
• scientific research work, study and development of concepts, theories and methods;
• care for the safe and healthy work of the unit's workers and students, for adequate education and training of persons who come into contact with dangerous substances, use of personal protective equipment and other safety measures;
• performance of other tasks that fall within the broader professional field of the position and participation in management, i.e., participation in ALUO and UL bodies and commissions.

Minimum Requirements

• A doctoral degree in a relevant field (pre-Bologna or 3rd cycle) or recognition of significant artistic achievements by the University of Ljubljana.
• A valid academic title (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) from the University of Ljubljana in the field of Painting. Alternatively, eligibility for election to the title in accordance with the Criteria for the Election to Titles (University of Ljubljana, 25 October 2011, with amendments). Candidates without a current title must submit supporting documentation and a signed declaration allowing their application to be treated as a request for title election.
• Active command of English.
• Proficiency in Slovene at CEFR level B2. If not already acquired, this must be achieved within three years of employment.

Additional Qualifications

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Experience in developing innovative teaching methods and integrating the subject into broader disciplinary and international frameworks.
• Demonstrable international artistic or academic achievements.
• Minimum of five years of teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates with a strong portfolio in illustration and comics.
