University teacher: Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Full Professor in Microbiology (M/F)

Status: 0,2 FTE

Type of contract: Temporary contract

REQUIREMENTS:

• doctorate in microbiology, biotechnology, or related sciences;
• habilitation according to the regulations of the University of Ljubljana (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor) in Microbiology or Biotechnology or proof of fulfilling the requirements with the statement that such habilitation is intended;
• the candidate meets the requirement if he/she holds a valid UL title or the valid title of the visiting instructor at UL. If the candidate does not have a habilitation to the above titles at the time of application, but meets the qualitative and quantitative conditions for election to these titles, he/she may apply for the vacant position. In this case, along with the application, he/she must also submit proof of meeting the above criteria along with a statement, in the event of a decision by the Selection Committee, the application will also be considered as a request for election to the title or for recognition of the equivalence of the title;
• strong communication skills, innovation skills, organisational skills;
• evidence of external research grants;
• proficiency in Slovenian and English; if the successful candidate is not a native Slovenian speaker, he or she will be offered the opportunity to learn Slovenian and is expected to achieve level B2 in the Slovenian language according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) within three years of appointment;
• applicants who actively perform or lead research in microbial biotechnology and who actively publish scientific works in this field and obtain research funds will have priority in the selection process.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• creating and updating curricula and adapting higher education programs for vocational training to requirements
• organising or co-organising all teaching-related activities in accordance with the curriculum and the findings of the profession, coordinating the work and supervising the work of other teaching staff (teaching assistants, technicians, etc.);
• giving lectures, conducting seminars, and other educational activities related to the course of study within the academic study programmes;
• designing and updating curricula and adaptation of university and university courses to specific requirements;
• directing research and student activities, supervising students in their final theses;
• participate in other activities related to pedagogical work in the professional field;
• provide for professional development within UL;
• present the research field to the broader community;
• act in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations;
• perform other duties that fall within the broader professional scope of the position.
