POSITION: University teacher: Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Full Professor for Forest technique and forest work (M/F)
Status: shorter working hours (35%)

REQUIREMENTS:
- doctoral degree in Forestry, Forest Ecosystem Management and similar
- habilitation according to the rules of University of Ljubljana (Assistant Professor /Associate Professor / Full Professor) in Silviculure (or similar) or prove of fulfilment of requirements with a statement that such a habilitation is envisaged;
- the candidate fulfills the condition if he / she has a valid UL title or the valid title of the Guest teacher at UL. If, at the time of application, the candidate does not have an election to the abovementioned titles, but he / she meets the qualitative and quantitative conditions for election to these titles, he / she can apply for the job vacancy, in which case, together with the application, he / she shall also provide evidence of compliance with the above criteria, accompanied by a statement, in the event of a decision by the selection committee, the application shall also be considered as an application for election to the title or for the recognition of the equivalence of the title;
- communication skills, innovativeness, organisational skills;
- record of external research grants;
- proficiency of Slovenian and English language.
- work experience: experience of practical work in forests in the field of close-to-nature and traditional forest management, forest planning and forest management. Completion of a practical traineeship and a professional examination. Teaching experience (in Slovenia and abroad) and knowledge (teaching and mentoring, participation in seminars for the acquisition of teaching knowledge and skills), experience in the transfer of knowledge into practice (organisation of workshops, seminars, conferences), knowledge of sophisticated statistical tools (r - language, multivariate methods, mixed models), evidence of setting up and running field experiments, knowledge of research work in primary forests, experience in communicating scientific findings, good knowledge of and involvement in the work of international NGOs in the field of sustainable management and nature conservation.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- designing and updating curricula and adapting university and higher education study programmes to specific requirements,
- organising or co-organising all course-related activities in accordance with the curriculum and the findings of the profession, coordinating the work and supervising the work of other course staff (teaching assistants, technicians, etc.),
- lecturing, conducting seminars and other pedagogical activities related to the course at all study programmes,
- directing research work and student activities, mentoring students supervising theses;
- research and development work in the field of forest engineering, forest traffic infrastructure and ergonomics in forestry;
- independent application and management of domestic and foreign projects.
Detailed job description:
- The candidate must have multi-dimensional competences, including teaching, research, professional and communication skills.
- The candidate will teach a set of courses in the broad subject area of forest science and silviculture with a particular focus on close-to-nature forest management, forest reserves and primary forests at all levels of study, conduct field seminars and guide students in the production of their final theses. Teaching work will include a variety of practical tasks such as marking trees for felling, planning and implementing reforestation, so experience and skills of this kind are indispensable.
- The candidate will independently conduct research work in the field of sustainable forest management development and the study of primary forests, be involved in the international research community, publish findings in reputable international and national journals, and be actively involved in obtaining research funding.
- The candidate will be involved in the management of university forests, and will organise and implement continuing professional development programmes for forestry practitioners.
- The candidate will publish popular science articles, participate in interviews, talk shows, documentaries and other media projects explaining the importance of close-to-nature forest management, actively communicate with the public through social media to promote sustainable forestry practices, highlight current challenges and stimulate debate on forest conservation.
- The candidate will develop the frontier areas of forest management (protection forests, urban forests, forests of non-native species) and contribute to the implementation of the principles of modern sustainable forest management in these frontier areas.
