REQUIREMENTS:

• doctoral degree (previous)
• doctoral degree (Bologna level 3)
• teaching habilitation according to the rules of University of Ljubljana (Assistant Professor /Associate Professor / Full Professor) in Microbiology or prove of fulfilment of requirements with a statement that such a habilitation is envisaged. The candidate fulfills the condition if he / she has a valid UL title or the valid title of the Guest teacher at UL. If, at the time of application, the candidate does not have an election to the abovementioned titles, but he / she meets the qualitative and quantitative conditions for election to these titles, he / she can apply for the job vacancy, in which  case, together with the application, he / she shall also provide evidence of compliance with the above criteria, accompanied by a statement, in the event of a decision by the selection committee, the application shall also be considered as an application for election to the title or for the recognition of the equivalence of the title. 
• communication skills, innovativeness, organizational skills;
• active knowledge of English and knowledge of the Slovenian language at level B2 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). If the candidate does not fulfill this condition when filling the position, he must fulfill it no later than three years after employment;
• preference will be given to applicants whose research experience is in the field of microbial proteomics and enzymatics, microbial biotechnology and environmental monitoring. The applicant is expected to master and teach the methods and tools of bioinformatics, heterologous expression, “in vitro” characterization of enzymes and enzyme complexes, and analysis of fatty acids;
• preference will be also given to applicants who were successful in attracting research money in national or international calls and have international network of collaborators.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• designing and updating curricula and adapting higher education professional study programs to current requirements,
• organizing or co-organizing all activities related to the implementation of the course in accordance with the syllabus and the latest developments in the field, as well as coordinating and supervising the work of other course staff (assistants, technical and other collaborators),
• lecturing to students, conducting seminars, and engaging in other teaching activities related to the course,
• leading, assessing, and grading exam tasks and evaluations,
• supervising students in the preparation of thesis (BSc, MSc, PhD) and other academic work,
• participating in other activities related to teaching in the relevant field (e.g., recognition of foreign qualifications) and/or as members of commissions at the level of the Biotechnical Faculty and Department of Microbiology at the University of Ljubljana,
• ensuring safe and healthy working conditions for staff and students of the unit, including appropriate training and awareness for those handling hazardous substances, the use of personal protective equipment, and the implementation of other safety measures,
• performing other tasks that fall within the broader professional scope of the position including active participation in national and international calls for research or educational projects, and for research equipment.
