Position advertised: UNIVERSITY TEACHER LECTOR, in the title: UNIVERSITY TEACHER LECTOR / UNIVERSITY TEACHER LECTOR WITH MASTER'S DEGREE / UNIVERSITY TEACHER LECTOR WITH DOCTORATE in the field of English language (DM code: D010004, m/f), for an indefinite period with full (100%) working time (40 hours/week). Expected date of employment: February 2025

Required qualifications:

Required education (degree and major) according to the title:

• specialization after higher education (previous system) in the field of English language
• Higher university education (previous system) in the field of English language
• Master's degree (Bologna level 2) in the field of English language

• specialization after university education (previous system) in the field of English language
• Master of Science (previous system) in the field of English language

• Doctor of Science (previous system) in the field of English language
• doctorate in science (3rd Bologna level) in the field of English language

Professional title requirements:

• valid habilitation title lector in the field of English
• the candidate meets the condition if s/he has a valid title of UL or a valid title of visiting teacher at UL. If, at the time of application, the candidate has not been elected to the above-mentioned titles, but meets the quantitative and qualitative conditions for election to these titles, s/he can apply for the advertised position and, in this case, together with the application, submit proof of fulfillment of the stated criteria and attach a statement that s/he agrees, that in the case of a decision of the selection committee, the application is also considered as an application for election to the title or for recognition of the title;

Language proficiency:

•  active knowledge of English and knowledge of the Slovenian language at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). If the selected candidate does not fulfill this condition when filling the position, s/he must fulfill it no later than three years after employment;

Additional skills:

• professional and linguistic didactic competence, rhetorical skills, a sense for connecting and applying theoretical and methodological content, a sense for organizing one's own work and the work of colleagues

Work experience:

•  three years of relevant teaching practice and at least three months of working in an appropriate linguistic environment

 Brief description of work and tasks:

General description:

• designing and updating the teaching content of lectureships and adapting them to the requirements of specific university and higher education professional education programs
• implementation of tutoring forms of work with students on undergraduate study programs (teaching exercises and seminars) and on postgraduate - master's study programs and other forms of pedagogical work (consultations, speaking lessons, etc...)
• preparation, management and assessment of exam tasks and tests
• monitoring the profession and participation in domestic and international professional meetings
• participation in other activities related to pedagogical work in the field of the profession: inside and outside the university (e.g. nostrification and habilitation reports for lector titles, matriculation examination boards, transfer of knowledge in the field of applied linguistics to teachers in various forms of continuous and lifelong education, co-designing language lessons at lower levels); taking care of the safe and healthy work of the unit's workers and students, the appropriate education and training of persons who come into contact with dangerous substances, the use of personal protective equipment and other safety measures
• performance of other tasks that fall within the broader professional field of the position

Candidates are expected to be responsible for:

• implementation or co-implementation of the course in accordance with the study program and other regulations;
• the professional and timely execution of other works;
• working resources;
• safe and healthy work of colleagues and students of the course;
• supervision of  the work of technical associates.

Preference will be given to candidates with

• experience in teaching English at tertiary level
• experience in teaching English for specific purposes
• experience in compiling study materials for students and/or (co)authoring textbooks for teaching English  for specific purposes
